[Dec. 16th, 2009|12:04 am] |
I've been putting up my Christmas trees today. I've got a 5 footer in the living room and a 4 footer on the conservatory corner window shelf. I realised today that I don't have enough baubles for two trees. In the other flat I had deep window sills so my big tree went in the big window and the little tree went in the little window. I lived 11 floors up. I didn't need to decorate around the back of the trees!!!
The one in my conservatory I realised can be seen from all angles! It's got baubles three quarters of the way round (facing outwards) but you can see it's not got any around the back (toward the inside of the conservatoy) from the outside as you walk past the window.
I think they look nice, even with the bare patches! I collect nice glass baubles and add new ones every year. I bought a long twisted hand blown glass one from a craft fayre a couple of weeks ago. Steve usually buys me a couple too.
I'd have liked to have posted pictures but my camera isn't working!
I also hung my cards up on a string across the back wall and put my nativity scene out on the table.
I'm glad we decorated last week. All the busy wallpaper would have been too much with all the Christmas decorations.
Oh my sister sent me a piccie last week that she took on the day we moved in.

This was the wallpaper up to last week! |

| | relaxed | ] | What have I been up to these past few days?
Well...
Thursday evening was supposed to be my first concert with the choir but I became ill with a blockage in the afternoon (one of my serious problems as a result of the op 11 years ago!) But THANKFULLY it cleared up on it's own around 8pm so I didn't need to go to hospital or anything.
I rested during Friday daytime to get over Thursday evening (actually I wrote Christmas cards!). On Friday night my cuz aimingtobefit stayed for the night. We went out to the usual Friday night pub. I had a nice surprise as a couple of the redheads were home for the holidays. I wasn't expecting them to be around until next Friday. Prince Harry wasn't around but funnily enough my cuz, who has recently started a new job, was talking to her new workmate and realised after a few comversations that he is Prince Harry's dad!!! She's not let on that she knows his son though!
Saturday morning me and cuz walked around the village, hand delivering my local cards. In the afternoon the choir met for a 'big sing'. I thought it was going to be a concert but when I got there it was a 'Choir and audience just all sing together and sing as many local carols as you can in two hours' type of thing. It was a fun afternoon and we sang about 29 carols.
On Sunday I spent the day analysing the DVD of my last assessment. It will take me about another two weeks altogether to get it all finished. It took me 3 hours just to transcribe everything that was signed by myself and my partner on the 12 minute DVD! I was glad when Steve arrived at teatime as it meant I could pack in for the day.
It was the last college class of term today so in my 1 to 1 with the teacher I told him that I would have all the paperwork finished by the time the new term starts on Jan 11th.
I've now got a bath waiting for me to get into.
Oh and thanks to multred_a for your card. It arrived this afternoon. |

[Dec. 8th, 2009|09:50 pm] |
Hello all! For any following this saga from the initial submission, to the overhaul, to the major revision, and at last the 7/10 rewrite, I sent a quick email to Storm just to see if there was still a timeline for this. And there is. But
it'll be a while. Here are her comments, FYI: I think realistically it will be the new year when I get back to M&M. I've got a couple of books supposed to be out this month and I'm also trying to finish stories for the Wraeththu Mythos collection. I think it will be late spring/early summer for that release. If I get time to start looking at M&M before Jan, I will do.
So! She's busy. Not surprising. Guess I'll really put that story off in the back recesses of my mind until I hear from her. It helps since I'm going to focus on things other than writing, though I do have a couple of longer fics in mind that I'd like to work on, unhurriedly, and with no deadline. One will be Wraeththu, and the other will be Tolkien. Not sure whether to revive a Numenorean fic begun several years ago, or whether to go the Dwarvish route. Too bad there weren't any Dwarves in Numenor, I could do both at once! ;) |

If anyone would like me to send them a Christmas card then PM me your address and I'll gladly send you one. Because of me moving house this year, I may need the people who sent me their addresses last year to send them again as I'm not sure where I've put them. |

[Dec. 5th, 2009|03:24 pm] |
What a marvelous day! My housemate is off at another acupuncture thing, so I've been having a great day and trying to keep my frenetic activities under control. I have been on the phone a lot, enjoying my free minutes (happy shout out to emansil_08 for the lovely conversation, and an unexpected pleasant surprise call from evannichols), and working on my knitting. I will write on my Yuletide fic later tonight, but for now, I'm enjoying the fire I successfully built, the smell of scented candles and the eight-freaking-foot Christmas tree we put up last weekend, and my handwashed sweaters drying in front of the fire on the new drying rack I bought last night. Because trying to have a handwashed sweater dry flat in an unheated house? Not so much. :P
So! A picture of the assembled cardigan. I still can't get the coloring right on it with my camera. The cabling is really a true cabernet color, not the reddish you see. But you get the point. So now I'm going to enter the new realm of i-cord and call wolfiekins and koshweasley and enjoy my Celtic music. :D

| Decorating! |
[Dec. 3rd, 2009|11:54 pm] |
Its now 11.30pm and we have just finished papering the living room having started it at 11.30am!
The room looks very big now! I hadn't realised how much patterned paper makes a room look smaller! I've now just got plain white walls in a no-patterened blown vinyl.
I'll post before and after piccies when we've finished.
